Gayfejian Vahram (1879-1960)

1879 - born in Akhaltsikh, province of Tiflis of the Russian Empire.
1891-1901 - studied in the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages, Moscow.
1901-1909 - studied at Moscow University, first at medical, since 1904 - at law department.
1902-1907 – at the same time studied at painting department at the College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
1911 – according to K.Korovin sketches made decorations for Imperial Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow.
1924-1955 – gave lessons at the Art College (from 1943. – named after P.Terlemezyan), where, until 1928 acted as the Director, Yerevan.
Since 1943 - "Honored school teacher of the Armenian SSR.
Since 1954 - "Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR"
1957 - published a monograph, "Gevorg Bashinjaghyan" (co-author A. Sargsian).
1960 - died in Yerevan.

Works are kept in NGA (Yerevan), the Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), Art Museum of Uzbekistan, Museum of Art in Minneapolis (USA), in numerous private galleries and collections in Armenia and abroad.
