Gyurjyan Hakob (1881-1948)

1881- Born in December 5 in Armenian patriarchal family of Shushi  (Nagorno Karabakh).
Hakob Gyurjyan was French Armenian Sculptor.
In 1907-1910 he studied at Paris Julian Academy, later attended Roden Workshop.
Beginning with 1908 he participated in the exhibitions held by Paris Fine Arts National Association, etc.
He has created more than 300 works. His works have been exhibited in Tokyo, Oslo, Moscow and many other cities, as well as he has held individual exhibitions in New York and Paris.

1948 - Died in Paris on December 28.
1958 - According to Gyurjyan`s will his widow T. Arakelyan and her spouse A. Arakelyan fulfilled the assignation of his 400 works and archives to Yerevan.
1959 - Gyurjyan`s personal exhibition opened at the State Gallery of Armenia ( now National Gallery of Armenia)
1963 - The collection of Gyurjyan`s works was enlarged by 42 sculptures donated by A. Arakelyan (Paris).
